Mindful Monday - June 14th
Hello and happy Mindful Monday!
I hope you’re coming off a fully optimised and enjoyable weekend!?
It’s been a little while since we’ve mentioned the cheap and easy “basics” that are consistently linked to better health. So before we launch into this week’s bunch of random cool stuff, here’s a little reminder…
Water
Make this the first thing you put in your face every day. About a pint. Do this at least three times every day.
Cold water
Cold showers are great for waking you up, great for your circulation, and seemingly even better for your immune system. If you can’t quite stomach a full cold shower, consider finishing your normal shower with 30 seconds of cold. Brrrr…
Green smoothie
Cover all (or at least most of) your daily essentials in one awesome glass. Try this or perhaps this and read about Katie’s green journey here…
Eating
Eat real food (less processed stuff, nothing with numbers as ingredients); not too much (stop when you’re ~80% full); mainly plants (pretty self-explanatory). Simples.
Move
Find some kind of exercise you enjoy and do it regularly. The type of exercise isn’t as important as doing something consistently.
Meditate
Sit still. Close your eyes. Count your breaths to 10. Start again if/when you lose track.
So simple. So worth trying.
Sleep more.
Ok, so that got a bit bigger than I intended. Perhaps you could try picking one or two things to focus on this week and experiment with incorporating them into your super fantastic weekly plan?
Nice one.
Right, here are a few things I’ve been digging this week to round out this week’s MM.
Star track
Space boffins have been measuring and mapping space to learn more about the history of the universe. Think a 570-megapixel camera and 300 million galaxies.
300. Million. Galaxies.
Read about it here. Mind blown.
Not so secret
Did you hear about the US airmen who accidentally leaked the locations of secret missile bunkers? Airmen studying for service tests inadvertently posted study flash cards online that revealed secret nuke locations. #fail. Read about it here.
And finally…
Pie time
If you’re in need of some real comfort food, look no further than this super tasty Potato Pie recipe from Oz – though it’s a bit fancier than the ones you’d get at the footy. Buon appetito!
Have a great week.
Big love,
Luke X
