Keeping your New Year's Resolutions
Now we're a couple of weeks into 2020, how are you getting on with your New Year's Resolutions?
The statistics on how many people actually follow through and accomplish their New Year’s resolutions are rather grim. Studies have shown that less than 25% of people actually stay committed to their resolutions after just 30 days, and only 8% accomplish them.
So with that in mind here are a few tips to make the resolutions more long lasting:
Start small
Unhealthy behaviours develop over the course of time. Thus, replacing unhealthy behaviours with healthy ones requires time. Don’t get overwhelmed and think that you have to reassess everything in your life. Instead, work toward changing one thing at a time.
Talk about it
Share your experiences with family and friends. Having someone to share your struggles and successes with makes your journey to a healthier lifestyle that much easier and less intimidating.
Have fun with it
Let's be honest, we’re more likely to do things we enjoy - so it’s important to find the fun in your resolutions.
If yours haven't worked out, or perhaps you're looking for new ones, here are a few resolutions to consider -
- Get out into nature more
- Spend less time on your phone
- Drink more water
- Buy fruits and vegetables that don’t look perfect
Good luck and let us know how you get on!
