Thoughtful Thursday - July 2nd

Welcome to another Thoughtful Thursday!

Clinic Updates

Nothing much to see here. We will continue to ease our way back into things without going crazy about the UK's “Independence Day” on July 4th. Last thing we want is to mess this up and have to start again.

It’s worth noting we are generally booked out one to two weeks in advance so please do call us if you are keen to jump on the table, particularly those of you we haven't seen for a while.

Some of our front-of-house are back on the desk to say hello, and a couple of the chiros are extending their hours to help accommodate y’all. As always, just give your clinic a call or flick them an email and we will do what we can to help you all out.

Keep reading to see what our guest ed Erana Tupaea has to say, but first…

Podcast(s) of the Week

Last week, Craig had a chat with Team Kew’s Brad Taylor, who some of you may recognise from other clinics such as Putney and Fulham. If you’d like to relive the live chat, you can find it on Insta here, or if audio’s more your thing, have a listen here.

This week’s live chat is a great one for any new mums or expectant mothers, as our guest recently gave birth to this gorgeous boy! So tune in to our live story on Instagram at 3:30pm (mum life permitting!) today to hear Craig chat with Team Marylebone’s Khushboo Patel.

Now over to you, Erana!

Shameless Plug(s) of the Week – Coffee!!

The liquid gold that a lot of us reach for first thing in the morning. The world’s second most popular beverage – right behind water – and, thanks to its high levels of antioxidants and beneficial nutrients, it also seems to be quite healthy!

Studies have shown that coffee drinkers have a much lower risk of several serious diseases. Not only can your daily cup of joe help you feel more energised, burn fat and improve physical performance, it may also lower your risk of several conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.I’ll admit, my coffee consumption has increased dramatically over the past few months. I've even gone out and purchased a Chemex and a coffee hand grinder, to add to the Aeropress and V60 I already owned (a real geek, I know!).

If you’re keen to brew some beans at home, here are my favourites that I have discovered over the past few months:

  • Allpress – an all-time favourite that started as a coffee cart in my homeland (NZ)!

  • Our friends at Ground Coffee Society always come through with the goods and our Putney team rely on their coffee to get them started every morning.

  • Roundhill Roastery started selling their beans at Bath Farmers Market and have gained a cult following, in part due to their ‘Claude’ special releases.

  • When coffee combines with heavy metal and motorcycles, you get Dark Arts Coffee. Don’t let the names fool you, they’re very easy to drink.

All these websites do subscription as well, so you will never be caught short!

Ask the Team

Erana Tupaea DC also answers your question…

What are the best pillows to sleep on?

You want a pillow that keeps your head in a neutral position throughout the night. This should be slightly firm and should hold its shape and not sink. If lying on your side, your pillow should be the width of one of your shoulders to support your head.

Is there something about chiropractic you'd like to know more about? Have a health-related query we might be able to help with? Feel free to fire us back and we will answer it for you and everybody else!

That’s the end of this week’s email. A big thanks to Erana for making it more fun and fuelling our caffeine addictions! Seeing as this shameless call-out thing seems to be working, I wonder who’ll be next on the hit list… (maybe Luke M? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.)

Stay alert, stay safe and don’t do anything too crazy this weekend when the pubs re-open!

Cheers,

Drew
