Thoughtful Thursday - November 5th

Hi everyone,

Sorry, she is a long but important one today. Craig has taken on today’s updates while I prep our teams, and we have Meagan from Team Putney taking over this week’s shameless plugs.

Cheers and thanks for reading,

Drew

Clinic Updates - from Craig Mclean

We are pleased to let you know we will remain open to help you during this 4-week lockdown and are extremely grateful to be in a position to continue to serve you all during this time. It’s a time of increased stress and emotions, which affect our physical and mental health, so please do reach out if we can help. We would be glad to!

Our thoughts go out to all our friends at our favourite local fitness studios, cafés, independent shops and other neighbourhood businesses. We will support you as much as we can and would encourage anyone reading to support them by ordering their takeaway services or using their online programmes to keep them operating after we are through this. (Keep reading for some of our favourite Putney spots later in the email – Ed.)

We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure you are safe when visiting our clinics. We’ve updated our risk assessments and have ensured every part of your experience in clinic is kept as safe as possible. We’ve implemented a new hygiene protocol, and this is now what a visit to our clinics should look like:

  • Please wear a face mask when in the building (you can remove it when lying face down on the table to ensure you can breathe!).

  • Practitioners and support staff will be wearing PPE.

  • Hand sanitiser is available – please use it upon entry.

  • We are taking your temperature upon entry to the building for everyone’s safety. If your reading is high, we will ask you to leave and reschedule (without a fee).

  • We’ll keep the clinics ventilated while winter allows.

  • Please use contactless payments where possible. (Our online store is also available, and we’ve even included a smaller pre-payment block – you’re welcome!)

  • We’ve also installed protective screens.

  • Our COVID-19 declarations have been updated, and we ask if you have COVID symptoms (high temperature, dry cough, loss of smell/taste) to please call us prior to attending so we can reschedule.

  • Our adjustments are generally less than 15 minutes long, hence are considered a safer form of close contact.

Please keep your heads up, please keep supporting each other and please do get in touch if we can help in any way. Our front desk team have really enjoyed chatting to you all on the phone! Right, onto staff news…

Where is everyone?

  • Erana is off for the rest of the week (HAPPY BIRTHDAY for today!) and will only be practising from Tooting at the moment.

  • Silva has now joined the Fulham team to help Sammy and Mike to care for you all. Welcome to team Fully!

  • Bailey, our American theatrical assistant and HP advocate, is also joining team Fulham to help out Laura on the desk.

  • Rehab at Kew with Alex appears to be okay to continue at the time of writing.

  • However, Massage at Marylebone is currently up in the air. We are not taking new bookings but will gladly add you to the list of people to call when we have further clarification. If your practitioner feels you need some additional therapy, we can refer you to Alex in Kew if need be.

Podcast(s) of the Week

A couple of new episodes for you this week! First, Craig catches up with one of our newer team members, Zara from Team Tooting, who talks us through her background and experiences as a chiropractor. This ep was conducted as a live Insta chat, so if you’d prefer to put faces to voices, click here.

Our second episode is one for the cycling crowd, as Craig chats to his mate Adam Wolley, an experienced bike fitter and owner of The Fitting Room, about how to minimise pain by maximising your bike set-up. A good one for anyone planning on taking up cycling over the next month!

You can listen to both episodes on our website here, or on Spotify, Apple and Google, too.

We have some special guests lined up for appearances next week, but if you’d like a sneak peek of our next episode, join us tomorrow for a little Insta live intro at 10:30am.

Shameless Plug(s) of the Week by Meagan B.

Hi all, I’m Meagan, one of the CAs at Putney. I thoroughly enjoy my job, mainly because of the legends I get to see every day! I love all the friendly, happy faces who come into the clinic and I’m so happy we’ll be able to remain open to see you and help you out over the next month.

Since moving out South West, I’ve come across so many awesome local businesses in the SW15 area, so I’d like to share a few of them with you and hope you can support them during, and after, lockdown 2.0.

If I had to narrow down my favourite local, I would have to give a shout out to the legends at 79 Collective. There’s always a friendly face who remembers your name, delicious coffee and luxury Aussie and Kiwi treats for purchase. Yes, their dining area is closing, but they’ll still be open for takeaway and delivery. They’ve also just set up Collective Provisions where you can order fresh fruit and veg boxes, craft beer and, of course, Ground coffee!

For the best comfort food, I can’t go past one of Chrissy’s filling toasted sandwiches at Smugglers – sometimes I even have to skip dinner after having one of these bad boys for lunch! They’ll be staying open to provide takeaway food and drinks, too.

When it’s time to burn off those carbs, the best place to go would be Daley Fitness on Upper Richmond Road, whose staff are always friendly and gym classes are always fun and motivating. During these next 4 weeks they’ll be providing online classes for members and are even loaning out their kit! So even though there’s no gym, it’s still well worth joining to keep up with your fave spin class or HIIT circuit from home.

Once restrictions start to lift again, I can’t wait to return to rowing. I have recently joined the Vesta Rowing Club, who also have a great gym within the club, just a stone’s throw from the river. I’ll also be patiently waiting to get my mane tamed by James at Kink Hairdressing on Lower Richmond Road. Kink looks after the heads of most of our staff (including Drew – remember his epic transformation this time last year?) so they come highly recommended!

We are so lucky to have the lovely River Thames right by our side, so to help keep your body moving during this time, my hot tip is to park the car a little further away and take a nice stroll before your adjustment to reach us. This way, you’ll be nice and relaxed before your adjustment and, as our chiros say, walking after your adjustment helps it to be more effective. It’s a win-win!

Take care, stay safe and see you in clinic soon,

Meagan
