Mindful Monday - March 22nd
Good morning and happy Monday.
“A year from now you will wish you had started today.”
— Karen Lamb
Sounds about right. Nice one, Kazza.
So, what'll it be? What could you start today that in a year's time (or sooner) you'll thank your super wise and thoughtful present day self for?
You could:
Start "that" book; actually use the meditation app you downloaded in January – or the language one; commit to going to bed earlier; drink more water; drink less beer; eat more fruit; call the friend you've been meaning to; sort out your wardrobe; start a journal; plant some seeds...
Hit me up with your super cool ideas.
Sleep, the final frontier
The benefits of getting the right amount of sleep are too numerous to mention but, suffice to say, getting consistently high-quality sleep is a key component of great health and function.
If you're one of the many who have challenges around sleep, the Sleep School app could be a game changer as it teaches you how to master the art of a good night's slumber. Arianna Huffington's book The Sleep Revolution is also a must read.
When to eat
Sure, we know what we eat plays a huge role in our health and performance, but there's a growing body of research suggesting when we eat is also incredibly important. This NY times article digests the new book The Circadian Code and expounds on the benefits of eating within an 8-9-hour window. Bon appétit!
Seeing double
Have you noticed there’s a growing number of twins? Well apparently it’s a real thing. Births of twins are up from 8/1000 pregnancies in the 1980s to 12/1000 pregnancies presently. This increase appears to be linked to higher rates of IVF and older first-time parents. Dive deeper here.
Your round
How much does beer cost around the world? The World Beer Index 2021 lays out how much you need to shell out to enjoy a cold one. Interestingly, sales of Corona beer went up this past year! What's that phrase? Any publicity is good publicity...
Have a great week guys, and start something!
Big love,
