Mindful Monday - November 1st

Good morning and welcome to November!

Feeling good? Feeling refreshed after an “extra” hour of sleep Saturday night? Or was it an extra hour of partying?

I hope you had a good one. :)

“Spend the best hours of your day on the biggest opportunity, not the biggest problem.”
- Shane Parrish

Cheers Shane, I couldn’t agree more!

Where and what is the biggest opportunity for you this week?

Maybe it’s work. Or perhaps it’s in your relationship… Yourself… Or even your garden?

Instead of trying to fix something, what would happen if that effort was redirected to supporting, nurturing, tending to something to encourage growth?

Could a different attitude bring about a different outcome – most likely, yes.

Make a list of what you find yourself stressing out about most often. Next make a list of what you’d much prefer to spend your time and energy investing in. Now try to connect the benefits of the second list to the first “stressful” list and see how some of the stressors may become a little less daunting if your efforts were slightly redirected towards what ultimately makes you happy and content.

Done well, this little exercise can help remove some of our self-imposed limitations that hold us back from spending the best hours of our day on our biggest opportunities. Cool.

The School of Life
You know that old saying “All I really need to know I learned at kindergarten”? Well, The School of Life has put out What They Forgot to Teach You at School, which fills in all the other stuff we should have learned. It’s beautiful for anyone of any age.

Read a bit of it here. Buy it or gift it here.

Notes of kindness
Random acts of kindness send ripples of love and compassion out into the world further than we ever know… much like a smile, really. This compilation of notes of kindness serves as a wonderful reminder.

Save it and read it with a friend and/or loved one over a tea. Smile.

The apple hunter
As far as cool jobs go, this is certainly up there. This guy searches high and low for forgotten species of apples and beings them back from the brink… The Indiana Jones of the fruit world? Check him out here.

Have a great week and stay special.

Big love,
Luke
