Mindful Monday - October 4th

Hello, good morning, namaste!

“If you worked as hard at doing difficult things as you did avoiding them,
you’d become unstoppable.”
- FS

Quite possibly!

With the leaves starting to turn, more eyes are drifting towards nature and the forests as autumnal colours start to shine. What a beautiful time to connect to the natural world around us. Hopefully this seasonal beauty will inspire more care and forward planning like…

What does Liverpool, Manchester and Hull have in common?
A plan to create a leafy corridor between them! A new forest of 50 million trees is to be planted in north England, which is part of a larger project that includes Leeds and Sheffield, to up the woodland cover from 7.6% in line with the national average of 13.2%. Nice one.

A plastic letter to the future
Every single piece of plastic that was ever made still exists today, A Plastic Paradise. After hearing this, a Korean design agency put together a collection to letters to the future from all over the world and printed them on used plastic pages to create a one of a kind time capsule. Heartbreakingly beautiful and brilliant.

100 people, 100 years, one community
Photographer Jenny Lewis’s new book, ONE HUNDRED YEARS, is a collection of everyday people doing everyday things in East London. If you ever needed a reminder that life is made up of small things and that they are beautiful, this is it.

And finally…

Not only are we still dealing with the challenges of a global pandemic but we’re also entering the traditional cold and flu season… which often prompts the question:

“Should you work out when you’re ill with a cold?”

Form Nutrition dives deep on this here, but my take is if you’re feeling under the weather this is most likely a sign your body could do with a bit more rest, sleep and care. Give yourself permission to tactfully edit out your training session and return with more energy and focus in a day or two.

Have a great week, guys!

Big love,
Luke
