Mindful Monday - September 20th

Morning, guys! Hope you had a grand weekend. What are your top five favourite things that happened?

“Courage is when someone goes to school and studies.”
- Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You’re a Girl)

Yep, courage can be many things.
What's courage to you and your family?

The world is indeed constantly evolving/changing, and so too is our relationship to it. The past month or so has seen yet more dramatic shifts in the geopolitical landscape that will deeply impact millions of people, namely the exodus of American troops from Afghanistan. While the issues and decisions surrounding this monumental event are far too complex to tackle in a Monday email, there is a notion of failure that regularly comes up when the topic is discussed, and given that we love a success story, perhaps there’s a counter intuitive positive perspective to be considered – especially when it comes to women.

Under US occupation a health care system was built, girls were able to go to school, women made up a third of parliament – in short, there was hope. In his podcast this week, Rich Roll explores the many success stories from an inhabited Afghanistan, the dire consequences of a US departure, how focussing on women’s health and education makes seismic shifts to a society and, perhaps most importantly, how we can help female Afghan artists, scientists, politicians and leaders shape a brighter future.

If there’s one podcast you listen to this week, please make it this one.

This short film won all sorts of awards last year; it's a must see. It’s a story of courage, spirit and humanity in a war-torn country where young women strive for a sense of purpose and fun.
Success is…

A young girl rocking it BIG TIME

After challenging Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters to a drum-off (and winning!!!), 11-year-old Nandi Bushell made her own stage debut at a packed-out LA Forum. Spoiler alert: she completely smashed it.

Have a fab week, and perhaps take a moment to consider the flip side to a “failure”.

Big love,
