Thoughtful Thursday - April 29th

Time flying by! Bit to get through admin-wise this week, Craig’s been training the team so is off the pod, Michael is delving deeper into the thoracic, and we have a plug from one of our own, Megan from Team Toots!

Clinic Updates
No news on the tweaks front which is great!! Lil housekeeping reminders…

  • Please wear a mask in and be cool about it.

  • The roads are still crazy so please try to walk or cycle if you can while the weather is nice. I promise it will be more enjoyable, less stressful and probably quicker (my walk to Kew from Putney is an hour and the quickest way bar a bike at the moment!).

  • Do call us if you are running late or cannot make it. We really do need to know before you get in so we can accommodate you and others around you.

This Monday, May 3rd Bank Holiday
Each clinic will be rolling as follows…

Putney: Open – Grant & Bryan AM, Craig & Ami lunch, Ami PM (and she has some slots! Be quick!!)
Fulham: AM only with Mike
Tooting: Open all day with Zara
Marylebone: AM Chiro with Filippo; PM Physical Therapy with Iskander
Kew: PM only with Gopal

Fees
Last reminder that PAYG fees go up in 5 more sleeps, on Tuesday May 4th…

Fulham/Kew/Putney/Tooting £50
Marylebone £55

As previously noted, all packages of care will remain as is for the time being.

Podcasts
The Chiro.London Pod, proudly fuelled by Ground Coffee Society, takes a break this week as Craig was busy organising a masterclass on activator use for our chiros.

But you can always checkout the greatest hits on our website, Spotify, Apple and Google.

Vertebra of the Week
This week in Michael’s tour of your spine, we pay a visit to…

T9
The nerves exiting T9 connect to the adrenal glands, which lie just on top of the kidneys. There are two parts to the glands – the adrenal cortex (the outer part) and the adrenal medulla (the inner gland). The adrenal cortex produces essential hormones including cortisol (regulates the metabolism and assists stress response) and aldosterone (regulates blood pressure), while the adrenal medulla produces non-vital hormones that nevertheless still play their part (such as adrenaline, which aids your body’s reaction to stress).

Cortisol, an anti-inflammatory compound, is also responsible for protecting the adrenal glands by keeping histamine levels in check. Histamine, an inflammatory compound, is responsible for actioning allergic reactions (think runny noses and red eyes during hayfever season, or what happens when those allergic to peanuts eat them!). If cortisol isn’t properly produced, histamine levels can rise, overburden the adrenals and cause unnecessary inflammation in the body.

Shameless Plug of the Week
This has been taking off, somewhat shockingly! Have heard from way more people than what I suspected were our three regular readers. Really appreciate the feedback!

For the next few weeks, our front-of-house team is taking over to share something they are working on, or something that they love that they think you will enjoy!

We’re kicking off with Megan who has a nice little giveaway for you...

I’m Megan, you may know me from the front desk in our Tooting clinic, and I’m here today to share with you my little side hustle...

Outside of my life as a CA, I’m a dancer, dance teacher and qualified Barre instructor. I have a passion for health and wellness, spending most of my spare time cooking delicious meals and plant-based recipes. If you’re keen on reducing your animal product intake but don’t know where to start, you can check me out on Instagram @thelittlechickpea_ where I share loads of easy and delicious meal ideas.

I’m all about moderation and believe food is the BEST medicine for both your mind and your body. There’s no talk from me about calories or diets, just balance.

I’m running a little giveaway on my Insta here (ending tomorrow) if you’d like to enter! You could win a selection of plastic free, natural skincare from @scenceskincare, 12 bottles of @realkombucha, AND some vegan protein powder, lion’s mane mushroom powder and organic jasmine green tea from @enrichdsuperfoods! These are some of my favourite, smaller UK brands that share the love for sustainable, cruelty-free products.

For some advice from the real professionals, I recommend following and listening to the Deliciously Ella and Plant Proof podcasts. They cover a range of fascinating topics that have really helped me educate myself about nutrition and how to build a holistic, healthy lifestyle that doesn’t cost the earth.

To finish, I’d like to share my favourite quote:
“If we could live happy and healthy lives without harming others, why wouldn’t we?”

Thanks Megan, always good to get some more vegies in the diet and great that we can plug something a little healthier this week, too!

Look after yourselves and see you next week,
Drew
