Tuesday Tune-Up - May 3rd

Good morning and happy Tuesday Tune-Up!

“We didn’t realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.”
Winnie the Pooh

Lives are made up of an almost infinite number of moments. Some of these moments are relatively mundane, like brushing our teeth or putting the rubbish out, and other times we may find ourselves marking off the days till the weekend or next holiday. And as fun as weekends and holidays can be, it doesn’t change the fact that most of us have routines composed of habits and activities that we do time and time again.

If we’re to take the wise words of Winnie the Pooh to heart and put them into action, we have a few options. We can endeavour to find joy in the seemingly mundane daily chores, inject activities that we love doing into our routine, and protect and maximise our time away from our daily lives.

So, which daily things can you make more fun? How?

What are some relatively easy fun additions you can make to your schedule?

When’s your next time away and how can you ensure you don’t need to check your emails?

It’s May already. Really. Let’s get cracking.

Better social media
Supernova is changing the social landscape by directing a portion of their advertising revenue to charitable causes. The more likes a post gets, the more support charities get. Finally. Get involved here.

Mobile treatment centres
The Change Please Foundation has repurposed a couple of London buses as mobile treatment centres for homeless people. The buses provide GP, dental and therapy sessions, along with haircuts, showers and employment support. Profits from Change Please coffee sales go towards the running of the buses – coffee put to another great use! Read more here and grab some beans here.

Refugees recycling
Finding hope, or even a purpose, can be beyond even the most optimistic people who have had their lives completely dismantled. Yet in the middle of the Sahara desert in Algeria, a refugee camp has the tools to recycle waste and turn it into furniture and other useful items thanks to Precious Plastic. Life changing.

And lastly…

Dancing Kiwis
The New Zealand PM was recently greeted in Japan by a pair of dancing Kiwi fruits. You read that correctly. Japan buys a lot of kiwi fruit and is one of their biggest importers, but really this is just too good. Take a look here.

Have a fabulous week!

Big love,
Luke
