Tuesday Tune Up - 8th May
Hi everyone and welcome to May (insert an appropriate ‘gulp’!)In the run up to next week’s 50th edition of Monday Motivation we’ve (Craig and Luke) teamed up to bring you our combined thoughts for today’s Tuesday Tune-Up (the Bank Holiday version of your usual motivation). Here are some of our favourite things of late that hopefully inspire you to move, think and feel better.1. A wonderful idea from the north of England that encourages people to embrace and grow a deeper sense of community “chatter and natter” is spreading to the south. The Putney Society is pleased to announce that The Putney Pantry at St Mary’s is setting aside room for people from all walks of life to meet and talk and help reduce loneliness in our community. Nice one guys!2. Stress can have negative effects on our health and managing it is sometimes tough. This great 1min 46 sec video gives you a few ideas as to how you can manage the negative effects of stress. It was put together for spinal awareness week which is coming up May 14-20.3. The idea of running a marathon usually stirs a response in most people. It’s a seriously big deal for anyone to undertake - and a big congratulations to all those who participated in this year’s London Marathon!! Check out this documentary, Breaking 2, that follows Nike’s quest to break the 2 hour marathon barrier. Truly amazing.4. Craig went to Awful Auntie, the live stage production of the David Walliams book last week in Wimbledon with the family. It was a great night out and if your kids aren't into the books or you have a niece/nephew you don't know what to buy them get them one of the series. We’re now into Demon Dentist which made me think - we need him to get started on ‘Crazy Chiropractor’ next…. (please email us any better potential book titles)5. Loving this quote right now:“Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real.” Niels Bohr, physicist who made foundational contributions to the understanding of atomic structure and quantum theory, for which he received the Nobel Prize in 1922.Ciao and thanks,Craig and LukePS - We love ideas from our local scene - if you have something you think belongs here - let us know and we’ll try and squeeze it in.
