Monday Motivation - June 17th
Hi everyone,
So motivation has a lot to do with preparation. Sir Bradley Wiggins once commented that the hardest thing about going cycling is putting your socks on. Once the socks are on, the rest comes easily, and automatically. It doesn’t just relate to socks – if you lay out your kit the night before, you have a higher chance of getting to the gym, yoga or even work in the morning. Read more about morning routine here and #putyoursockson.
Apparently the ultimate limit of human endurance has been found. If you don’t want to read the link, it has been calculated at 2.5 times the body's resting metabolic rate or 4,000 calories a day for an average person (in the long term).
My current fav book is The Alter Ego Effect. Read how finding the hero already inside you can help overcome the self-doubt, negativity and insecurity that’s been holding you back. It includes great examples from athletes and executives.
My nine-year-old daughter loves Drs Chris and Xand van Tulleken. They are twin brothers who are both medics. I can recommend the BBC show The Doctor Who Gave Up Drugs by Dr Chris – an insight into how hard our GPs work and how tricky it is to work as a GP and not prescribe medication. Watch it on YouTube here.
Not to be outdone, Dr Xand has a book and a TV show on Channel 4 about How To Lose Weight Well, and both are worth a look.
Speaking of doctors, did you know it was ‘Call Your Doctor Day’ last week? It’s actually one for the women and has an important health message. Check it out here.
Stay well!
