Monday Motivation - August 19th

Hi everyone!

Hope you all enjoyed summer… Is it over!?!?

I survived a wonderful run in Sweden a couple of weeks ago and managed to get around the marathon course in 6.5 hours! However, the winner nailed it in 3.5 hours – quite humbling, yet I don't think he stopped for photos. :)

Travelling through Europe in the crowds of summer certainly affords plenty of time to do some reading. Here are some of my highlights:

Hunter S. Thompson's Letter on Finding Your Purpose and Living a Meaningful Life is a beautiful read. It offers some practical advice and insights into making decisions that I think are appropriate, regardless of age and interests.

This NY Times article explores skin health and the impact of a life-long habit of rubbing expensive creams into it… very interesting!

No One is Too Small to Make a Difference – so true! Sixteen-year-old Greta Thunberg has inspired millions through her wise words and call-to-action for a healthier global environment (and has even featured on the covers of Time and Vogue). This is her first book, and you can read her Vogue cover story here.

Moving the Finish Line: The Goal Gradient Hypothesis – in a nutshell, how to create goals that genuinely inspire and motivate you to achieve more. This article explores the science behind using goals and rewards that actually make a difference and how to apply them in your life immediately. A great read.

And a little bit of easy sci-fi summer reading… Sleeping Giants is book one of a three-part series by Sylvain Neuvel set in the near future, when mankind discovers we are certainly not alone in the universe, nor are we the "superior race" anymore…

As always, thanks for reading and have a great week!

Big love,

Luke x
