Mindful Monday - September 14th

Good morning Mindful Monday People!

I hope you enjoy some of these favourites…

Breathing

Research has shown time and time again that breathing is really good for you. (Seriously – people do research on this stuff. And you may remember Grant Munro discussed the importance of breathing in this Thoughtful Thursday, too.) But… can you breathe to help improve performance, calmness and general wellbeing? Yep, you can, and this little email course will show you how (or you can read this book).

Fascinating fun

Do you like having fun? Tick. Do you like the internet? Yeah, probably. Well this sweet site https://neal.fun will put a smile on your face and maybe teach you a thing or two at the same time. My fave is The Size of Space.

Google contacts

I recently found my Google Contacts page and was able to see a bunch of info that I didn't know was a thing. It shows who you contact the most, who has multiple entries and offers suggestions on how to clean it all up. Great for those of us with a bit of OCD...

Sleep... or lack thereof…

We could all do with more sleep – even those of us who pretend we're ok with five to six hours. (They've done research on this too, btw.) Constructing an evening routine to help set you up for a great night of downtime is super helpful for increasing nutrients to the brain and neural tissue, proper hormone production, optimal blood supply to muscles and supporting your immune system, tissue and bones.

Thankfully, some of the key elements to a healthy evening routine are pretty simple and include things such as:

  • Avoiding artificial light

  • Having a consistent bedtime

  • Avoiding caffeine and alcohol

  • Don't have a TV in the bedroom

Pilates & podcasts

Ever wondered just what is the difference between pilates and yoga? Tomorrow Craig renews his love of the live Insta chat with his next guest, Luke Meessmann, founder of Absolute Studios, who specialise in all kinds of pilates. He and Craig will discuss the importance of strength and flexibility, the Absolute Studios story and whether you need both pilates and chiropractic in your life.

Tune into our live story here at 5pm tomorrow or check out this week’s Thoughtful Thursday for the podcast link.

And finally…

“How you live affects how long you live. Most people could do better. Me among them.”

- Paul Graham

Totally with you, PG. As always, have a great week, stay special and be mindful.
