Thoughtful Thursday - December 17th

It’s the second last one for the year – and we have some ‘cracking’ Christmas promos and gifts for you all!

Clinic updates

Well it has certainly been exciting times here in the capital since last week! We have had a few obstacles in clinic over the last week or so and wanted to thank everyone for their flexibility and understanding while we have adapted. We have really appreciated this and are pleased we can continue to safely care for you all.

Any feedback or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Like everyone, we are doing the best we can and value your support to ensure we are available to care for you all.

To say thank you for all your support during this crazy year, we’ve got a special festive offer for you – “The 12 Cracks of Christmas” pack, which includes 12 adjustments at our lowest available per-visit rate! To purchase, simply click here and select your preferred clinic, or you can ask us nicely when you’re next in clinic to buy it in person. This special expires at midnight on December 31st, 2020.

Team updates

As we close in on Christmas, a few of the team will be off for a VERY well-deserved break – please call your clinic or checkout the website for details, as the changes in circumstances and restrictions have, like most places, provided alterations to our initial grand plans.

Podcast(s) of the Week

Last week Craig chatted with former chiro classmate Vismai Schonfelder, who now practises at The Chiropractor Singapore. Their paths have crossed many times over the years, especially when Vismai was in Holland and Craig here in London. Vismai shared his many life stories during the chat, including his regular commute from Bali to Singapore, and his near-death experience in West Africa.

If you’d like to watch the chat on our IGTV you can do so here, or you can take a listen on our website, Spotify, Apple and Google.

Shameless Plug(s) of the Week – Chiro.London’s Last-Minute Gift Guide!

If your Christmas shopping plans are awry following London’s relegation into tier 3, fear not! We’ve compiled the perfect list of last-minute Christmas gifts from independent and local businesses, many of which are intangible, and all of which are available to purchase without ever leaving your home. We hope you find something to bring someone a little joy.

For the caffeine addict

Got a friend or family member who can’t start their day without a cup of coffee? A coffee subscription from Ground Coffee Society is the gift that (literally) keeps on giving. Not only can you choose from capsules or bags of beans, but you can also select the frequency at which it will arrive – weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Not sure how quickly they’ll get through it? That’s ok, they sell gift cards, too. From £6.50 per delivery.

For the ethical eater

Do you have a friend who’s powered by plants? Or a family member who swears their participation in Veganuary will last the whole month this time? The Vegan Lockdown Larder Recipe Book is your winner. Written by local naturopathic chef Ursula Lake, the book contains 40 delicious vegan recipes based around pantry basics. What’s more, it’s digital (meaning no postage worries or environmental concerns) and part proceeds even go to charity. £12.

For those who WFH (and are feeling it)

Hubby been working too hard from home and feeling a little worse for wear? Or perhaps you want to encourage your TV-bingeing mate to get off the sofa? Enter H Space’s Honest Mobility Membership, an online video library full of fresh functional movement content, including full classes, mini-sessions and educational health tips, all designed to increase function and strength in your body (and not sweat and pain!). The library is completely on-demand and replenished regularly. £12.99 per month.

(Sound so good you want to give it a go yourself? Merry Christmas – here’s one month free!)

For the avid homebaker

If your loved one perfected banana bread (many times over) and is in need of a better baking challenge, BakesterBox has got the goods. BB’s baking boxes differ from other homebaking kits by sending only the highest-grade ingredients and quality tools, such as 82% fat French butter, Valrhona chocolate and proper tins and trays to bake in. They even offer a 3-month subscription if you’re feeling particularly generous. From £16.

For the self-care supporter

It’d be remiss of us not to mention our own festive offerings, right? Give them the gift of spinal health with some pre-paid sessions at the clinic of their choice from our online store. How about an initial consultation for a friend in need? Or be generous and top up a family member’s credit with a pack of adjustments – you can buy as little as one session or as much as 24. But for the best offer, try our "12 Cracks of Christmas" special: 12 adjustments at the rate of those in a 24-pack! From £45.

For the wine connoisseur

A good bottle of plonk can be a nice but pretty unoriginal choice, so if you’re keen to go one better, why not start at the beginning? At Beacon Down you can rent a grape vine for a year. Rental includes a certificate of lease, a tour of the vineyard, an ownership tag, a map to your vine and, perhaps most importantly, a bottle of its precious liquid. And if you really want to get involved, you can even help pick grapes during harvest! From £45.

For the keen cyclist

What do you buy the cyclist in your life who has kit for days and no room for a new bike? A gift voucher for a deluxe clean from Ride Clean, to keep their ride in tip-top condition! They’ll even come to your home if you prefer. Deluxe clean from £50.

For the sustainably stylish

With sustainability being the hottest trend in fashion right now, it’s a good move to bypass the high street this Christmas. Instead of giving the gift of new, why not give the gift of restoration? The Restory is offering revival packages for beloved shoes and bags, which can clean, condition, repair and remove tough stains to restore treasured pieces to their former glory. From £125.

Ask the Chiro

Michael Lezuo DC answers your question…

I’ve heard there are lots of different chiropractic techniques, which one is the best?

There is no such thing as a “best technique”. All have one goal in mind: to get your spine moving healthily so your nervous system is free to talk to your body. Some techniques are gentler, some are slower, some are faster, and some are more complex.

If you don’t like a particular technique, don’t be afraid to talk to your chiropractor and ask if they can change the way you’re adjusted. Otherwise you may like to try a different practitioner, as each chiropractor has their own style, and we realise it can be a personal choice - not every technique is the right fit for all clients.

That’s it for the week! One more to go, and then we might review whether we keep Thoughtful Thursday going in the New Year (and whether we have any content left to share!). If you like what we’re writing and want it to continue, do let us know!

Stay safe and keep smiling,

Drew
