Thoughtful Thursday - January 21st

It’s Thursday again… There was a missed opportunity for an adjustment on me last week that went begging. Let’s see if anyone claims a prize this week.

Clinic Updates

Pleasingly, we have no new updates in clinic. We are here to help, and nobody is off.

A big thanks to those of you that have passed on feedback regarding your experience in clinic either by emailing us or leaving a review.(Which you can always do here Fulham / Kew / Marylebone / Tooting / Putney)

We have had a few people attempt to attend clinic while awaiting results of a Covid test or while they have been symptomatic. Am pretty surprised that this needs to be addressed but please DO NOT come in if you have been tested and are waiting on results, have been told to isolate or are symptomatic. Please DO call us so we can reschedule you.

Can you also please ensure you arrive promptly at your scheduled appointment time (even if the time is slightly odd) to ensure we can keep the clinic moving smoothly. If you are running late (even by a minute or two!), please call us so we can advise you what to do.

Podcast News

The man, the myth, the legend Damian Hopley, head of the Rugby Players’ Association, joined us last Friday on the “Cracks & Coffee With Craig” podcast (brought to you by Ground Coffee Society).

Was a very honest conversation about his career, passions, and how he views both mental and physical health and wellbeing. Well worth a watch here on our IGTV, or you can listen to it as a podcast on our website, or on Spotify, Apple and Google, too.

Craig has also finally broken free of cycling and rugby to talk golf this Friday at 11am live on the Chiro.London Instagram.

Ian Clark is our special guest - head coach at the A3 World of Golf range and we plan on covering:

  • The top five things to focus on to help your game

  • Three common physical challenges that hinder your swing/game

  • What is the Titleist Performance Institute and how does it promote chiropractic?

  • How PTs and golf coaches work together

We’ll then look at Tiger’s back problems and Rory’s workout!

Vertebra of The Week

We continue our tour of your spine with Michael’s vertebra of the week. First person to reply to me with a rundown of what they learnt in last week’s Vertebra of the Week gets their next adjustment on me!

C3

There are no special names for regular vertebrae – the plain Janes of your neck with no exciting back story. Still, this might still be a silent hero.C3 just seems like one of the regular vertebrae, the first of his name, the unbroken, father of all regular cervical (neck) vertebrae (cue Game of Thrones theme), the nerve to your teeth, your face bones, cheeks, outer ears and the trifacial nerve. But it also does supply one of the major organs: your skin (seriously – it’s an organ).

What happens when your skin doesn’t work properly?

Your glands don’t secrete oils properly, it does not adapt to the environment as well, and this can lead to eczema or acne. Your skin can feel tight, oily or as if it cannot ‘breathe’. Other symptoms can include neuralgia (nerve pain), neuritis (inflammation of the nerves), acne and eczema.

*Well done to Bailey from Team Fulham for winning our Vertebra of the Week challenge this week among our assistants. Quiz her when you are in next! Also another gold star to Bailey for the incredible boards she has been creating in clinic at Fulham.

Shameless Plug of the Week

With Straya Day lurking imminently we thought we would share the best places for the expats among us.

  • Lockdown Bakehouse x Brickwood: Two Aussie faves combining for early Aussie Day festivities this Saturday. Get your orders in early.

  • 79 Collective: Reliably stock Tim Tams and other Antipodean treats all year round, but historically have had a nice surprise on Oz Day for everyone.

  • We also suspect a couple of our other fave cafes Coffeology in Richmond/Chiswick and Borough Barista in Marylebone may have some treats for you or, at the very least, will make a decent flat white!

  • Radio Lamington: An offshoot of Daisy Green who’ll begin delivering their assorted lamingtons nationwide from January 25th (what timing!).

  • SANZA: the go-to online destination for all Aussie goodies, from Caramilk and Shapes to Little Creatures and Golden Circle beetroot!

All done for another week. Stay safe till next time and have a ripper Aussie Day!

Drew
