Mindful Monday - March 1st
Hello, good morning, happy Monday and welcome to March!
The end of Q1 is near, spring is pretty much definitely here – another season begins.
Speaking of seasons…
We commonly refer to seasons according to the weather and environment – summer, autumn, winter, spring – and while we may have a preference for one over the others, they all have strengths and eventually pass into the next. Each has their own unique characteristics, and all are vital for life on our planet.
Seasons can also be useful when thinking about health. We can have a "season" of healing, which can often feel frustrating and uncomfortable, but as the healing season passes into one of vitality and more movement, we can appreciate the benefits of having slowed down and taken the time for ourselves earlier.
And so – perhaps you can see where this is going – we're still in the season of “COVID". For many of us it is slow, frustrating and painful. But it is a season – it will pass and there are benefits and strengths to this season, many of which we may not be able to fully appreciate or even acknowledge presently, but perhaps as we move into the next season we will.
This too shall pass.
And now this...
“The best response is often "You're probably right." Nothing is gained by arguing with someone over something that doesn't matter.”
- FS
Duly noted.
Women making it happen
This rather fantastic Kenyan woman's start-up has figured out how to make super strong bricks out of recycled plastic. Thank you, women in science.
Staying optimistic
Here's a thoughtful list of tips on how to manage hitting the pandemic wall. I'm currently doubling down on:
"Focus on what you can control" and "Set Boundaries".
To be continued...
Throwback to pumps
For those of you who followed basketball in the 90s, Reebok have brought back Dee Brown's iconic Pumps!
Retro = cool.
An alarm clock without the alarm
It's in the name, literally – "alarm" clock. These little devices have long history of putting us in a state of stress before we even make it out of bed.
Thankfully, there's a better way: the OneClock. Analogue, soothing, disconnected and easy to use.
Retro = cool.
And finally...
The world is inevitably going to start opening up again (at some point) and it will probably be rather hectic. Might I suggest taking a few days while you can, to recharge and gather yourself, before we all end up wondering how we all became so busy again?
Big love guys,
