Thoughtful Thursday - November 3rd

The last one before our Christmas edition - can you believe it?! Lots of moving parts this month as the team freshen up before Chrissie, Craig has a really interesting chat getting back to the basics of chiropractic and how it works, and we are flogging our favourite cosy cafés for a post-adjustment coffee.

Clinic Updates
We have had a buuuusy month! Big welcome back to Putters to Conor Ward! He’ll be poking his head in a couple of days a week, on Mondays (lunch and evening) and Wednesday evenings, while he plots world domination for the rest of the week.

The new kid on the block, Ella, has also changed up her timetable to be available at better times for you all. She’ll be based purely out of Putney for the time being.

A few new faces running the desks and some shuffling… Shennae is back at Putters (on loan?) from Fulham, so we can get our new faces Ayshia and Bella up-to-speed to help you all at Fully.

We also have a new massage therapist, Liz, joining us at our Wandsworth Bridge Road clinic. Get to know Liz a little better here.

Holidays & Changes, from Andrea
Tooting:
Sydney will be taking a long weekend; she will be off November 4th and returning November 8th before she takes a few weeks off at the end of the month – from November 29th and back December 11th. Michael is also going to be taking a long weekend from November 19th, back November 22nd. Amy-Lou will be on hand as usual to help look after you all.

Fulham: Mike’s hours are changing – from November 7th his clinic hours will be all day Monday and Wednesday, plus Friday morning and lunch. Georgie is going to be away Sunday November 20th but will be working Friday November 18th to compensate.

Marylebone: Katie Chimes will be taking some extended leave and is currently away, returning on December 19th just in time to look after you during the Christmas period. George will be tweaking his working days – he will continue to work Thursday evenings but will now be working Monday mornings also. The rest of the team will be on hand as usual.

Kew: Lucy is going to be away November 23rd and back on November 29th.

Putney: Ami is currently taking a few weeks off as she travels back to Australia and will return in clinic on Sunday November 20th. Grant will be off on November 18th and back in clinic on November 21st. Ella is going to be away at the end of the month; she will be off from November 30th and returns on December 6th.

Podcasts
The Chiro.London Pod, proudly fuelled by Ground Coffee Society, presents The Chiropractic Basics Refresher!

This month Craig was joined by Jake Cooke, a chiropractor with a Masters in Musculoskeletal Neuroscience, with a reminder about the mechanics and neurology behind how a chiropractic adjustment works. This includes…

  • Resetting and stimulating mechanoreceptors

  • Resetting muscle spindles of intrinsic spinal muscles

  • Proprioceptor input centrally

  • Improvements to cerebellum function

  • Anti-inflammatory effects

  • Release of opioids

They also talk all things stress, the immune system, and the theory of how a chiropractor could help you live longer.

Check it out now on our website, Spotify, Apple and Google.

Shameless Plug: The Cosy Autumnal Café Guide
A classic flogging of our guide of where to grab your coffee and watch the leaves fall after you’ve been to visit us.

Tooting: No surprises here – the team at Juliets have consistently amazing coffee from The Barn and a ‘classics with a (good) twist’ menu for food. Special mention goes to their seasonal pumpkin bread, the ultimate autumn treat. Worth a special trip if you haven’t been!

Putney: The OG of coffee shops: Grind/Ground/79 Collective, whatever you want to call it. Across the street from HQ, it is all-time awesome and run by lovely people who serve banging coffee and food!

Marylebone: Since Borough Baristas was sadly claimed by Covid, we have been enjoying ourselves at the most ‘grammable café front in Marylebone, Daisy Green. Seymour Store has also turned into a bit of a hidden gem, with lovely espresso from Monmouth, cookies bigger than your face and only a few chairs. A nice, calm refuge from the chaos of central London.

Kew: Coffeology. Great people, good coffee, and interesting treats in a tiny little space. Our go-to, day in, day out, and the perfect spot to stop sweating post-spin at Digme.

Fulham: You are spoiled for choice as the team are divided about their favourites! Laura likes to work out of the One World cafe, we head to Naive consistently throughout the day, and occasionally we’ll stop in at Rondor after our visits to Absolute Pilates.

Wandsworth Bridge Road: Some great new additions to the WBR area! Carbon Kopi is the second location (the first is in Hammersmith) of this antipodean-style café and features some of our barista friends behind the machine serving proper coffee. Also check out the very funky 21 Grams at the top of WBR next to Brook House. A very cool space to sit with a book and watch the leaves fall over at Eel Brook.

At home: Cosying up at home? Our guys at Ground Coffee Society will ensure you have café quality coffee in your kitchen all year round.

So now you’re set for a nice time, coffee in hand, listening to the pod, reacquainting yourself with the basics of chiropractic!

Next month, it’s the CHRISTMAS EDITION! Which may come a tad early… but with some treats. Also, don’t forget to follow our socials for a possible Black Friday promo – because you’ll only hear about it on social! 🤫

Cheers,
Drew
