Thoughtful Thursday - February 3rd
Welcome back to our monthly (FINALLY!) Thoughtful Thursday roundup of all happenings in the clinics, some health advice, and us shamelessly promoting something for the good of our community. So welcome old and new readers alike!
Clinic Updates
The requirement for masks to be worn in clinic continues for us. Thanks to all for being kind and respectful regarding this.
We are shuffling some of our assistants around over the next few months on our ‘working holiday programme’. We’re aiming to help them to gain a different experience from the clinic they have been glued to for the last couple of years, freshen up a bit, and to meet some more of you! Please don’t be shy on saying hello (and apologies if things are a little clunky while we try and pull this off, do let us know of any problems that crop up).
Farewell to lovely Kayleigh, our practice manager from Kew, who is moving out of London. It took seven years but you finally got rid of us! Thanks a bunch for all your help while we were growing and for always having a sense of humour about our ‘professional unprofessionalism’. You will be missed as much as everyone who disappeared in ‘The Snap’. (But remember… they all came back! 😉)
Holidays
Tooting: We are business as usual
Fulham: Also business as usual
Marylebone: Katie is back from her well-earned break on February 21st
Kew: Gopal is off from the 21st and back on the 28th
Putney: Bryan is off on the 22nd and back on March 1st
Massage: All the teams at Marylebone, Fulham and Kew are in as usual.
Podcasts and Masterclasses
The pod, proudly brought to you by Ground Coffee Society, is currently on hiatus as Craig has been spending his time arranging our weekly ‘mini masterclass’ series.
Every Monday, our chiros tune in for a little masterclass on all things health, technique and philosophy. They are hosted by one of the other members of the team, to share all the knowledge we have to help you all as best we can.
There are some really cool and relatable topics being covered, so feel free to ask your chiro next time you are on the table if you would like to learn something new!
My favourites so far include
Ami’s hints and tips for adjusting babies – chiro for kids is ALWAYS a fascinating talking point (check her Insta for more in-depth stuff), but did laugh that having spare clothes (including socks) in clinic was one of her tips - sure most parents can relate! 😊
Luke M reminding us of the basic principles of chiropractic. Basically, you and your body are amazing!
Mike introduced us to some different techniques he has been learning to harmonise and calm the nervous system from top to bottom.
All really cool stuff!
Shameless Plug
A wonderful plug, for a wonderful cause…
Normally known more for putting things on her head, assistant Lisa, who you may have met in clinic or spoken to on the phone or seen her hats, is instead removing something from her head for a really good cause.
After letting her locks grow out during lockdown, she realised her hair is now long enough to cut off and donate to The Little Princess Trust, who make real hair wigs for kids with cancer and other illnesses which cause them to lose their hair. (Shout-out to James at Kink London in Putney who will do the deed!)
Each wig costs £550 to make and is given to the recipient for free. As she’s managed to raise enough to make one wig already, I have told her I will shave off my seriously awesome lockdown pirate beard if she can raise enough for two wigs (£1,100 total).
So if you have a few spare pennies to help an amazing cause and some kickass lil dudes beating cancer, or just really, REALLY hate my awesome beard, you can find more information and donate here until the end of February.
Hopefully this has been an educational and inspiring lil newsletter to start the year. Stay safe and well and I will see you all again here in March (possibly with a cold, naked face if all goes to plan!).
Cheers,
Drew
