Monday Motivation - November 12th
Hey guys,
I’ve finally admitted it, I think I’m addicted to my screen. Big business has won and I've fallen foul to their apps, games and videos. Do you, like me, find yourself staring at your screen while having a cuppa with friends or when you're home with the family? How is this impacting on our health?
1. Well, Apple phone users have a newish, cool function which allows you to control your screen time and set app limits and downtime. Read this great summary of how it works and (like I've done) try setting a target for daily use especially for certain apps and pastimes. Doing this will improve your posture, set a good example for your kids and generally help you be more sociable.
2. Did you see the ‘health on the high streets’ survey recently carried out by the Royal Society for Public Health? This is a report rating whether the likely transactions you carry out on the high street effectively promote health and wellbeing or have a more negative impact. Have a look at the London League Table and a summary of the report. Average life expectancy for people living in areas with the top 10 healthiest high streets is two and a half years longer than for those in the 10 unhealthiest ranked areas.
3. We’ve just passed the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice. Watch this short film about why the poppy is used as a symbol of remembrance and hope or read here the story of Lt Col John McCrae who was inspired by the sight of poppies to write a poem called 'In Flanders Fields'.
4. Did you know our friends at lululemon hold free yoga classes and run clubs? Normally Saturday morning for running and Sunday morning for yoga - check out their events in Richmond or Kings Road.
5. Is it too soon to be talking about a Santa run? Check this one out on the 8th Dec.
Thanks all,
Craig
