Tuesday Tune-Up - April 22nd
Good morning everyone,
Welcome to ‘Tuesday Tune-Up’, a slight break from the normal Monday Motivation. With that in mind I hope you all enjoyed a fantastic Easter break with friends and family. It’s George Ross here and I’m part of the Putney Chiropractic team.
I’ve been practising chiropractic for over 12 years, predominately on the south coast, but as many of you will know I’ve recently taken over from the prestigious Luke B and hope to continue his legacy at PCC for many years to come! Well, that’s enough about me so let’s talk Tuesday Tune-Up…
Obviously, most of you probably already know that if you take care of your body – like you would with your own car – the healthier you will feel, not only externally but internally as well. So I’ve put together some easy key points to help keep your body in good health for as long as possible (excuse all the metaphors, but I couldn’t resist!):
Get regular check-ups: Like your car needing a regular MOT, you should think about doing this for your body. See your GP for a regular health check, your dentist for a teeth check, and us for a spinal check! Even if you haven’t had any issues with your body, teeth or spine, it’s always a good idea to have regular check-ups with your healthcare professionals to ensure you continue in good health.
Fuel up on quality nutrition: Just as the type of fuel you put into your car matters, so does the kind of fuel you put into your body. Along with a good variety of fruit and vegetables, it’s also important not to neglect healthy fats, which you can find in fish, nuts and oils such as olive and flaxseed. If you need a little help, I can recommend a good friend of mine to follow on Instagram, @rhitrition.
Get that weekly mileage up: Cars that aren’t driven regularly have a chance of breaking down. Similarly, if your body stays sedentary for long periods, it can lose its function and can become rusty, clogged and slow like an unused engine. Make sure you take the wheels for a spin at least 30-60 minutes a day. Be inspired by the big city – there’s no lack of options with people walking, cycling or running and an exercise studio on every high street! And if you’re not sure which studio to visit, check out ClassPass, which allows you to try different workouts wherever and whenever you like.
Change your car: Now I’m not asking you to change your body, although sometimes that would be a nice thought! What I’m trying to say is change your mindset. Change can be simple and can happen in many ways: those I’ve suggested in points 1-3, by adding a supplement to your diet, taking up a new exercise or sport, listening to an inspiring podcast, or even just taking five minutes out of your busy day to reflect or meditate. One of the first changes I made was to start listening to a motivational speaker, and that speaker was Tony Robbins. I spoke with friends and his name came up a lot in conversation, so I decided to start with him. His 7-Day Programme is a great starting point.
On a personal note, I didn’t just start trying to do everything at once but started small, and over time those small ‘tune-ups’ became my normal, everyday life and something I don’t even think about anymore.
Good luck making that small change today that’ll kickstart your engine for the journey to come!
Have a great day,
George
