Mindful Monday - March 30th
From this week onwards, we’ll be writing two Monday Motivation emails a week to provide you with our most useful tips, advice and suggestions on how to stay healthy, sane and safe in this crazy time we find ourselves in. Except, there aren’t two Mondays in a week, which is why we’ve done a little rebranding: please welcome Mindful Mondays and Thoughtful Thursdays! We hope you enjoy…
Good morning,
Well that was a crazy and stressful week for us all – anyone know a decent chiropractor to help calm our nervous systems down?
Jokes aside, we are so sorry that we had to close the door, but we have been extremely grateful at the outpouring of support from everyone regarding this difficult decision and hope this finds you all safe and well. For those that have asked, our support team are wrapped in cotton wool for the moment and are on furlough until we are ready to open again.
Don't forget, we are still only a call or email away, still happy to help as much as we can with chiropractic/exercise advice or even just a chat if you are bored! Plus we have plenty of health blogs on all sorts of topics, including home workstation ergonomics and immune system health. Speaking of helping...
We have all heard enough of 'the other C word' so let's talk about some positive, fun and interesting things that are happening in the community right now so we can help and support each other! We’ve listed some of our favourites below, but if you have a suggestion, business or idea that’s freaking awesome and will benefit our community, simply tag us on Instagram @chiro.london along with #chirolondonloves so we can find you and give you a shameless plug and a bit of support.
We are not the Kardashians by any stretch of the imagination (which might be a good thing?), but in times like this we will do what we can to support our people and community – particularly those who may be struggling and are doing their best to adapt in these crazy times! It is a lil Putney-centric today, but we will expand into other areas as we go along.
Food
Let’s start with our favourites @groundcoffeesociety who, as always, are kicking ass with a home delivery service throughout the Putney area for groceries, smashed avo toasts and the black gold they pour into cups. They’re also revealing all of the mysteries of the dark (roasted) arts they practise on their Instagram stories, and I believe they are also planning a home coffee course, which sounds rad!
The legends at @parsonsnosebutchers are doing delivery to their local communities (they have shops in Fulham, Putney and South Kensington) to save you from having to leave the house for meaty things. Plus they have a wicked awesome delivery van!
For all our plant-based peeps (or anyone who likes delicious things!), Albi Ison usually caters events as a private chef but has moved into making healthy ready meals delivered to your home.
Exercise and movement – so important!!!
We obviously have our Insta feed loaded with all kinds of helpful stuff, while our Docs are also available for telehealth appointments. We are trialling video for some of these appointments at the moment, so apologies while we iron out the kinks! As always, feel free to get in touch.
Our in-house physical therapist at our Marylebone clinic, Josie Mitchell @londonsportstherapy is also offering video chats and observations for exercise, so if you’d like a bit of one-on-one direction please do get in touch.
Our favourite pilates peeps at @absolutestudios are offering livestream ‘reformer for the mat’ classes for all levels of fitness, which only require a mat and some pillows/towels. Their Insta feed has also been great and honest this week in the face of adversity.
Meanwhile, Harry from @hspacemovement is keeping us loose and mobile with his Functional Range Conditioning online classes – perfect for anyone who needs to get some movement in their body after sitting for hours on the sofa (so, basically all of us!).
Calm, cool and collected, the @thehouseofyoga team are there to help you move, breathe, flow and chill with their livestream yoga classes.
Local heartthrob and Class Pass Instructor of the Year @carl_vanheerden is offering free daily resistance and bodyweight classes on Insta live - defo worth a look.
If you’re Aussie and feeling a little homesick, the true blue team from @trainingmate in LA have finally launched their online fitness classes, which are hilarious, high-intensity 30-minute workouts using minimal equipment you can find at home (e.g. wine bottles for weights!).
Health and wellbeing
If natural health is your thing and you are in Putney, drop an email to the team at Well4ever who have herbs and oils available to collect, or Guy may even swing by your house to drop them off.
Cheers for reading. Stay home, stay safe and DEFINITELY watch the Tiger King on Netflix if you have not already because OMG, what a wild rollercoaster of a ride!
