Thoughtful Thursday - August 20th

Welcome back to Thoughtful Thursday and part II of the Sammy Kale takeover...

Clinic Updates

Little reminder that we would ask you to please wear a mask while you are in the building (it can be removed during treatment).

We have had a very busy first week for Massage back at The Berkeley Clinic (Marylebone) in our newly renovated rooms. If you would like to be seen for a nice relaxing – or possibly not – rub, please get in touch in advance as there has been a lot of interest.

  • Ami-Bree from Putney has had a change of plans. She will still be in on Saturday, August 22nd but will return a week early on Monday, August 31st. Grant will be covering some extra time, or we can sneak you in at Fulham with Sammy.

  • Bryan from Putney is now off until Tuesday, September 1st. Michael from Tooting will be doing a Putney cameo! And Craig and George will be in a bit more to look after you all, too.

  • Sammy from Fulham is in until next Friday, August 28th and is then away, returning on Monday, September 7th.

  • George from Putney is off after his morning shift on Thursday, August 27th and will be back on Tuesday, September 1st.

  • Paul from Kew is off from Friday, August 28th and back on Monday, September 7th.

  • Katie from Marylebone will be back permanently on a Monday morning from August 31st.

We can confirm each clinic will be open on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31st. Give your clinic a call to see who is available to help. Always a good shout to get the whole fam in, too!

Podcast(s) of the Week

Co-Founders Craig and Luke B grew some dodgy beards and had a chat last week on Instagram to give their thoughts on the last few months of our practitioner podcasts. If you missed it and would like to check it out, you can do so here (video), or as audio here and on other platforms such as SpotifyApple and Google.

We’re looking to expand our horizons for the next season of podcasts and would like to include some non-chiropractor guests who share the same health and wellbeing values as we do. So any suggestions you have for guests or topics you’d like to hear discussed, please do fire them through here.

Shameless Plug(s) of the Week by Sammy Kale DC

Hi everyone. I hope you enjoyed last week’s shameless plugs for my favourite ways to nourish the mind. This week we’re going to look at great ways to nourish the body.

BODY

Exercise is an incredibly rewarding way to nourish your body. Most London gyms have been open for a few weeks now, and I for one have absolutely delighted in returning to see my favourite trainers in my favourite classes again. It has, of course, been in a slightly different manner, with the health and safety of clients being top priority, however they seem to be making the workouts as spicy as ever!

When I want a more intense workout, my go-to places are Body Society and Evolve. Their instructors are friendly and motivating, and their team workouts will certainly give you that endorphin rush. Both studios have now reopened and I’m really enjoying using gym equipment again!

Absolute Pilates is great for a less intense workout that makes you feel well stretched and calm after. Our team has been taking their online pilates classes throughout lockdown but I’m so happy to be able to take their reformer classes again now that their studio has reopened.

Movement is vital for the body, but if a strenuous workout isn’t your thing or you’re limiting your outside contact, we still have options. Early into lockdown, I filmed some easy exercises you can do at home which are great for keeping your body mobile and moving well. Check out my upper back series and lower back series over at Chiro.London’s Instagram.

Sleep. I think a lot of us may have forgotten how to sleep during last week’s crazy heat! It is of course one of the main pillars of health, so it might help to reflect back on this post by Luke B on a few ways to improve our sleep quality.

Thanks for reading this week’s tips, I hope they’ve been useful. Next week will be the last of our three-part series and we’ll be looking at ways to nourish your soul.

Ask the Team

Luke Brady DC answers your question…

What should I look for in a good office chair?

Any chair that allows you to support your lower back and maintain its natural curve is a good start. You don't need to spend big money, nearly any chair will suffice if you sit properly... Legs uncrossed, feet flat on the floor, lower back touching the chair, perhaps with a rolled up towel or pillow for added support to your lower back and you're good to go!

Thanks again to Sammy for a ridiculous amount of content – hope you have all found it interesting and you’re looking forward to hearing more from her next week! We’ll have another special guest after that… maybe someone not from the chiropractor realm?! We’ll keep you in suspense until then.

Have a good one,

Drew
