Thoughtful Thursday - November 12th

Welcome to Thoughtful Thursday – the Fulham Edition! Brought to you by the birthday girl herself, Laura H! Hope you have a great day, Laura!

Clinic updates

No new info in terms of how we are practising, and we remain open to look after you.

Thanks to all for your understanding and for helping us out with the transition over the last week. Always a couple of teething problems but have genuinely appreciated everyone wearing a mask, having their temperature checked and generally having a sense of humour about everything while we’ve sorted things out. THANK YOU!

Team Updates

  • Silva is off and racing in Fulham. You’ll find her there from Tuesday to Saturday.

  • Darryl is still in at Marylebone providing Physical Therapy for those in need, while Alex is in at Kew (both are extremely busy, so please do call well in advance to ensure we can fit you in).

  • Zara is off at Tooting for a long weekend, from Friday 20th and back Monday 23rd. Erana is around on Friday and Michael's in on Sunday to help you.

Podcast(s) of the Week

This week Craig spoke to Chris Cracknell, former England rugby player, assistant coach and coach of the Fiji men’s and women’s teams, and long-time Chiro.London client about his incredible sporting achievements and personal chiropractic experiences. Give it a listen here, or on Spotify, Apple and Google, too.

Shameless Plug(s) of the Week by Laura H.

Hi, I’m Laura and I currently work at our Fulham clinic. I also spent just over two years working at our Putney clinic before leaving to pursue my passion for photography, and after crashing one too many Christmas parties I decided to rejoin the crew on desk again this past summer.

I enjoy being on desk because I get to meet the lovely locals and see how coming in for their chiro time genuinely makes things better. Whether it's the new mum who needs her tune-up and 10 minutes to herself (and I get to hug their gorgeous babe while they do that!), the sports person who recovers from injury and then keeps coming back because they see the all-round benefits, or the old-timer who’s been having care since before most people had even heard of chiro! We get to know them, their dogs, and their families. It's really fab seeing that we practice what we preach here and lots of lovely people reap the benefits.

Fulham was also my local neighbourhood for a while, so I thought I’d introduce you to the area and my favourite little local businesses within it.

Did you know… Fulham Broadway tube station was used to stage the famous train scene from Sliding Doors? (Waterloo station provided the prior travelator moments.)

We also have a beach! It's not quite the golden sands of the Aussie coast lines, but it has sand and cocktails so it's quarter of the way there. Now it’s getting chillier, it turns into a winter wonderland, so it’s an all-rounder for events – subject to lockdown rules, of course.

Chanteroy is a French patisserie who do THE BEST croissants and baguettes in London. You legitimately feel like you're in France and that you should fake-French your order so that they know you've taken the courtesy of learning their beautiful language!

I used to live directly behind Thaiphoon and I think they aimed a fan next to their stove and toward my windows so that the gorgeous smells of their Thai cuisine would casually lure me in! I can confirm their food tastes as good as it smells, too.

We are spoilt because we have the amazing crews from Body Society and Absolute Pilates looking after us for all our fitness needs. What's lovely is that many of our clients attend both studios as well, so it can have the village vibes of knowing nearly everyone in the room. Both businesses are still looking after their clients online during this latest lockdown, with Body Society also offering 1-to-1 PT in the park and Absolute launching their ‘on demand’ workouts (which are free for the first week btw).

There are also some gorgeous local churches who have been allowed to open their doors, all doing different variations of "helping out the neighbours". If you know any high risk people in need of shopping or anyone living alone who'd appreciate a regular phone call, then you can either let me know and I'll put you in touch, or you can go to the "contact us" section of their websites and have a chat with the vicars or their team. At St Matt's on Wandsworth Bridge Road it'll be the Rev William, for chats at ChristChurch Fulham (just around the corner from our clinic) there’s Rev Stuart, and at St Dionis in Parsons Green, Tim is there for shopping pick-up and phone calls with a lockdown buddy.

See you in clinic or around the area soon!

Ask the Team

Sammy Kale DC answers your question…

How can babies benefit from chiropractic?

Birth is a wonderful, natural and incredibly special time for mothers and babies, as well as family and loved ones. However, even the most natural births can place a considerable amount of stress on the tiny body of a newborn. One could argue the most important time in your life to be adjusted is straight after birth – to ensure the foundation for neurological development is optimal. Chiropractors have a multitude of gentle and effective techniques to nurture your baby through the most critical developmental phases of life, if you’d like to know more just ask us!

Team Fully delivering the goods as always! Thanks to Laura for a great snapshot of local life and a few of our fave places to help you out during lockdown 2.0.

That’s it for this week – see you next Thursday!

Drew
