Thoughtful Thursday - November 19th

Welcome to this week’s Thoughtful Thursday – the Kew edition. But first, here’s what’s happening around the traps…

Clinic updates

Another week and the status quo remains. We are still here to help in clinic and are available for a chat to anyone feeling a bit lonely or trapped at home. Would love to hear from you so don’t be afraid to give us a call.

Don’t forget to stay active! Don’t need to run a marathon, but a walk by the river or a gentle lap in the park on the single speed bike like Michael and Katie (or a lunatic lap like Craig) will help. But if the weather’s not conducive to leaving the house, you can always give a few of these exercises a go instead.

Team updates

  • Silva is now practising out of the Fulham Bubble.

  • Also at Fulham, Sammy is off for a long weekend to chill. She’ll be done at lunch on Thursday 26th and back on Monday 30th.

  • Zara is off in Toots now and back on Monday 23rd. Erana and Michael here to look after you.

  • Darryl and Alex remain in clinic at Marylebone and Kew respectively, providing physical therapy to anyone in need. Demand is extremely high so do get in touch early to avoid missing out. (I had a great session with Alex on Tuesday myself!)

Podcast(s) of the Week

This week Craig has Ian Whittingham, co-Founder of Sigma Sports, in the hot seat. You may recognise Sigma Sports from being blazed across Craig’s cycling lycra, and in this episode Ian explains how he went from doing mail orders in his bedroom to co-owning a massive online retailer for all things cycling.

As always, you can check it out here on our website, or on Spotify, Apple and Google, too.

Shameless Plug(s) of the Week by Kayleigh M.

Hi, I’m Kayleigh and I’m Team Kew’s practice manager, though some of you may remember me from when I worked at Tooting, or Putney, or any of our other clinics – I’m pretty well travelled!

My favourite thing about working in clinic is getting to know the clients. We have such an assortment of people who come through the door and it's always so interesting chatting to everyone and hearing their stories. It’s also lovely to see everyone's journeys throughout care. Away from the front desk, I also enjoy the banter in our team WhatsApp chats – the meme and gif usage is a reliable source of hilarity!

Personally, I think Team Kew takes the cake with our local perks – a big call since I’ve experience with most of the other clinic neighbourhoods.

It's probably pretty obvious by this point how much everyone at Chiro.London is in to their coffee, and we have our buddies at Coffeeology Richmond to keep us caffeinated. They’re a great bunch of people with AMAZING coffee! Plus their sweet treats are delicious – I would especially recommend the Nutella slice. If you're ever in the neighbourhood, this should be your first port of call (then us!).

We're also lucky enough to have QBrü over the road from the clinic. It's my favourite place to grab some lunch, but it's also SO dangerous as I'm half tempted to get food there every day.

I've been getting my hair cut with the lovely Sheen Hair People in Richmond. They also have a skin care studio so it's the perfect place to go whenever I'm in need of a pamper, and I can’t wait to visit them once restrictions ease.

Speaking of pamper, our very own Alex is still open for physical therapy appointments, and an hour with him is guaranteed to decrease that tension and stress of the past week/month/year? So do give us a call if you’re in need!

I hope I’ve been able to provide some good recommendations for those coming to Kew, and some new places to discover for our regulars. We look forward to seeing you in clinic soon, or if you’d just like a chat we’re only a phone call away. :)

Ask the Team

Paul Danford DC answers your question…

Why should I come in for a check-up if I’m feeling ok?

Regular check-ups and maintenance are extremely important. If something is not right in the spine it can be identified and dealt with before it becomes symptomatic. If it is left unattended it could lead to a crisis requiring a course of treatment.

As I always say, "It's better to maintain than to wait until you are in pain again!!"

That’s it for another week. We’re getting through our assistants’ recommendations rather quickly and are off to our final destination next week for Lucy & Tom’s Day Out in Marylebone, which should be fun!

Look after yourselves until then,

Drew
