Mindful Monday - April 26th
Happy Monday and welcome to this week's edition of MM!
Gonna kick things off with a mindful quote:
“We don't see the world the way it is; we see it the way we are."
– Anaïs Nin
Woah, deep - I like it.
So, how are you seeing the world - and yourself? Frustrated, confused, anxious? Happy, optimistic, grateful? Perhaps some magical combination?
It is easy to forget that we "see" and experience life through our own unique lens and that no one really sees things exactly as we do, even though there are times we may wish they did. As some parts of the world start to open up again, I think we'd all do well to remember that everyone will move at their own pace, in their own way, and that's ok. We'll all get there in the end – let's try to make this part of the journey as smooth and mindful as possible.
Rock on.
Blue vitamins
Have you had your greens today? Perhaps one day we'll be asking if you've had your blues!? Doesn't quite sound right, but anyway… Mushroom Design have created a multi-vitamin with mushrooms that promises to deliver your daily essentials that are, well, blue. Super cool and hopefully coming to the UK soon.
Mushroom sneakers
Who knew the common link between vitamins and sneakers was mushrooms? Is there anything this fabulous family of fungus can't do? Adidas have added an environmentally- and animal-friendly version of their iconic Stan Smith trainers made from mushrooms (or more specifically, mycelium leather). Thanks Adidas, and thank you mushrooms!
Chewing gum wheels
UK local councils spend £60 million every year to clean up discarded gum. Yuk. Expensive. Enter two French design students who have figured out a way to turn chewing gum into skateboard wheels. They need 10-30 pieces of the gum to make a wheel and they look seriously cool. Leave it to the students...
Nap for focus
We love sleep. Sleep's great. Napping – a short form of sleeping – is particularly good at increasing motor skills and remembering stuff. Either read more here, or perhaps just have a nap – 15-20 minutes seems to be the optimal time frame to get the good stuff.
Night-time blend
Mushroom vitamins in the morning, mushroom sneakers by day… I guess it makes sense to round it out with a mushroom hot chocolate bedtime blend to help you unwind and chill before sleep – especially great if you didn’t manage a nap earlier in the day. Four Sigmatic's evening routine of Cacao with Reishi has been helping me drift off all week, I'm a big fan.
Thanks for reading this week's MM that was proudly brought to you by mushrooms! Stay special.
Big love,
