Thoughtful Thursday - August 5th

We are back – it’s a massage-heavy edition again this week so let’s get stuck in!

Clinic Updates
Thanks to everyone who’s been reading these to keep up to date with what is happening around the clinics. I will be looking to wind them down to stop spamming you as much, provided we don’t have any more curveballs from BoJo and friends!

Pingdemic is running wild at the moment and we have not been immune, with a few of the team having to live their best isolation lives. If you have an appointment and need to isolate for any reason, please just give us a buzz and we can reschedule you. No stress at all.

Fulham has moved!
Wandsworth Bridge Road is now closed for chiro – but OPEN for Massage and Sports Therapy!

Fulham - Volume II is now live at Marvic House. I think only one or two of you have turned up to the old location, so we will continue to spam you for a little longer to prevent it from happening again. Sorry if it is annoying, would rather be safe than sorry!

Please head here for how to find us/details.

Also, a heads-up that a few people have wandered to the wrong door. We are the next door down on the right as demonstrated in this diagram.

Any problems finding us or any feedback on the new space – please do feel free to get in touch.

Massage & Sports Therapy
We are off and racing with our expanded Massage and Sports Therapy teams! We are now practicing out of the old Fulham Chiro.London location on Wandsworth Bridge Road and it’s been all good so far. We welcome any constructive feedback on the new location or on any of our therapy team, so please don’t be afraid to get in touch.

We have general massage, sports massage, sports therapy and a lil' Swedish massage action going on. Call or email FulhamKew or Marylebone if you would like to get yourself looked after!

And don’t forget – we also have a little discount for all of August for our five fiercely loyal readers, and a Shameless Plug from one of our therapists, Tallulah, so do read on…

New chiros
Just a reminder we have had the wonderful Amy-Lou and Sydney join Team Tooting! Big welcome to the team, ladies!

Vertebra of the Week
On hiatus and building to the grand finale!

Shameless Plug of the Week
This week’s plug is from Tallulah O’Hea, one of our massage therapists at The Berkeley Clinic in Marylebone. Tallulah explains how the Massage & Sports Therapy teams can look after you (and compliment your chiro care!), and some great ways you can help to look after yourself.

Remember – we are still offering anyone who reads this and quotes ‘Treat Yo’Self Thursday’ £20 off the full price of a massage or sports therapy session, as long as you have been on the table by Bank Holiday Monday!

Hello everyone, I am Tallulah, one of the sports massage therapists at The Berkeley Clinic. We are really loving being back in full swing and working closely with our chiropractors to help our clients get back to full mobility and work towards a pain-free lifestyle. The team collaboration works really well, and we have seen some amazing results with clients who see both the chiro and massage teams!

With many of our clients suffering from lower and upper back pain from slightly dodgy WFH set-ups, I thought it would be a good idea to share some HOT DIY TIPS to help reduce pain (without self-medicating with alcohol)!

  1. Movement – every 30 minutes stand up give your body a shake, do some star jumps or even just go get a glass of water. Not being in an office has reduced people’s movement throughout the day and has meant you end up sitting for hours on end and your muscles end up seizing up and tightening more than they would in the office!

  2. Give yourself JUST 10 minutes a day of stretching – choose 4 stretches you like (chest opening, forearm stretch, neck and shoulder are good ones). If you do this, you will reduce stiffness MASSIVELY and reduce the likelihood of pain creeping in.

  3. Prioritise posture – you are probably slouching reading this… so roll your shoulders back and down, raise your laptop to eye level (use books if you need to), and try and sit with both feet planted on the floor (this will make you sit aligned and help you feel confident and grounded at the same time - boom!).

  4. Heat pad or hot bath – if your pain is purely muscular, your shoulders just are too sore and stiff and you’d like some instant relief for a few hot minutes, heat pads can be amazing. These can be bought online, or from your local Boots, and they work like a big plaster. Whack them on the sore point and the heat helps bring blood to the area and relax the muscle.

  5. Tennis or massage ball – when using a massage or tennis ball, you are incorporating the principles of massage, which help to relieve sore muscles in a DIY approach. While lying or sitting on a ball and allowing gravity to exert pressure, the ball presses and treats trigger points in the muscles. This reduces the muscle tension and improves mobility and blood circulation.

On another note – is it time to start prioritising yourself?

Alongside sports massage, I have also launched a health coaching business, which has been live since January.

I offer a one-to-one, 12-week coaching programme (90-Day Total Transformation) which is targeted to women in their twenties and thirties (but open to all!) who are suffering with body insecurity, low confidence and low self-esteem. I guide, motivate and support them back to feeling empowered, valued and alive again. I see a lot of women who are overwhelmed, stressed and don't have time to prioritise their needs, who feel fed up with life, unmotivated and are lacking in direction – well, I’m here to help!

If you are interested in my 90-Day Total Transformation programme, please do get in touch for a chat to find out more, via my website or Instagram.

All done for another one! Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine!!
